LAHORE: Pakistan Carpet Manufacture and Exporters Association (PCMEA) has geared up to prepare comprehensive set of suggestions to bolster Carpet industry on modern lines.
Among others, one theme of suggestions underlines the need to mainstream women labour though carpet industry so that women (formal and informal) workers may get employments at the threshold of their homes.
These views were expressed by PCMEA Chairman Latif Malik talking to applicants of stalls on Carpet’s 36th International exhibition in Lahore. On the occasion, Carpet Institute Chairman Saeed Khan, member and executive coordinator Riaz Ahmed and Major ® Akter Nazeer were present.
He applauded the efforts of Trade Development Authority Pakistan for its assistance in holding Carpet mega event. He informed aspirant stall-holders about exclusive facilities and procedure to come into contact with foreign buyers and businessmen in the event. He told them that PCMEA had been toiling hard to foster carpet industry but optimum results could never be achieved without government patronization.
“As new government is all set to come into being, preparations of fresh suggestions are afoot. The suggestion blue prints will be hammered out taking on board all stakeholders,” he said. Showing upbeat on the success of mega event, he hoped that carpet exhibition to be held on October will put far-reaching impacts on the industry. NNI
