Africa voted best Pavilion Globally in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

DUBAI: The Africa pavilion at the Global Village in Dubai received the ‘Best Pavilion’ award for its unique cultural and entertainment experiences that attracted millions of guests during this season.

An Award-winning business entrepreneur, Jalal Balala the Founder of African pavilion for over two decades and also the Chief Executive of Al Aziza Exhibitions Organizing Company, received the award on behalf of the African Continent for the year 2017/2018.  This is the second time, the African Pavilion is winning the Award, it won the first in 2015.

The unique trophy depicting a miniature Global Village was presented on stage by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and President of the National Olympic Committee.

Jalal who is the elder brother of Najib Balala, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism disclosed that Africa won the overall award through mass voting from the visitors to the Global Village, the region’s first multicultural festival park and family destination for culture, shopping and entertainment.

Jalal who is a prominent Kenyan trader in the Gulf region revealed that this season’s African Pavilion schedule to commence from October 30, 2018 for 159 days until April 6, 2019 is expected to be much bigger with more African Nations participating.

“We are expecting more African countries to participate, in fact there are already 150 countries who have registered so far for the coming season,” added Jalal, who also the sole distributor of Kenyan Tea & Coffee in the UAE, under the name of Al Azizah Trading.

This year’s (2017/2018) Global Village themed ‘Come, Experience the World,’ Season 22 received more than six million visitors, which has been described as one of the largest and the most successful season.

During the prestigious awarding ceremony held recently, Bader Anwahi, CEO of Global Village also announced the dates of the upcoming 23rd season as from October 30, 2018 to April 6, 2019.

Kenya has been actively participating at the Global Village for the past 20 years under the banner of the African Pavilion led by Jalal Balala, an award-winning business entrepreneur.
