FORT WORTH, Texas: Yesterday, American Airlines named Peter Warlick as vice president – Corporate Development and Heather Garboden as vice president – Financial Planning & Analysis.

Warlick will build and lead a team that develops and executes short- and long-term strategies by identifying, evaluating and negotiating some of American’s most important business opportunities. His team will work closely with other departments at American and external advisors to develop strategic initiatives to make sure American is well-positioned to compete for customers and support team members.

“The breadth of Peter’s experience combined with his leadership attributes makes him an excellent fit for this role,” said Kenji Hashimoto, American’s senior vice president – Finance and Corporate Development. “Peter’s leadership will ensure that this important activity gets the kind of attention it deserves.”

Warlick joined American in 1994 as a financial analyst and has held positions including treasurer and vice president – Fleet Planning. His most recent role was vice president – Financial Analysis, where he led the company’s labor analysis, financial analysis and fleet planning teams. He has also held a number of positions in investment banking.

Warlick earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and economics from Denison University and a Master of Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He serves on the boards of directors for American Airlines Federal Credit Union; C.R. Smith Museum, where he is also treasurer; and Answer ALS, where he is Finance co-chair. Warlick also founded Aviators Against ALS, a campaign to raise at least $5 million for ALS research.

In addition, Garboden, who is currently vice president – Financial Planning, is being named vice president – Financial Planning & Analysis. She is gaining significant new responsibilities as her current organization adds the functions and people from the labor analysis, financial analysis and fleet planning teams.

“These teams are a good fit for Heather’s existing responsibilities, which include the capital and operating budget, long-range financial planning and forecasting system teams,” Hashimoto said. “This combination will create seamless collaboration and coordination across all of Financial Planning & Analysis.”

Garboden was named to her current role in 2016. She joined America West Airlines in 2003 in Revenue Management and worked in financial analysis roles at US Airways before its merger with American in 2013. At American, she has been managing director – Finance, with responsibility for labor analysis, corporate real estate finance and capital planning.

Garboden has led the Women’s Leadership Program at American since 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Villanova University. News Desk
