KARACHI: United Business Group (UBG) once again dominated the elections of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) held at Federation House, Karachi on 29th December 2017.
It was a clean sweep for UBG on the Election Day, with only ten seats available for grabs as two seats of vice presidents had already been won over un-opposed, one from UBG and other from combine panel of Business-men Panel (BMP) and Pakistan Business Group (PGB). UBG got away with 11 seats out of 12 seats, which averages 92% success rate.
According to data available from FPCCI, during Election 2018 registered voters were 341 and from them only 326 choose to vote on the Election Day.
Mr. Ghazanfar Bilour from UBG was elected President of FPCCI with 186 votes while his opponent Senator Haji Ghulam Ali bagged only 122 votes. Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir nominee of the UBG with 190 votes defeated Mian Nasir Hayat Magoo for senior vice president.
On the reserve seats of Women Chamber, Syeda Saeeda Bano was elected and similarly another business-woman Shabnam Zafar has was elected Vice President and made history after contesting and winning the seat allotted to Sindh Chamber.
Other UBG nominees who won to serve as Vice Presidents of FPCCI were Mr. Waheed Ahmed, Mr. Atif Akram Mr. Zahid Saeed, Mr. Tariq Haleem, Mr. Karim Aziz Malik, Mr. Arfan Yousaf, Mr. Shafique, and Mr. Javed Iqbal.
Mr. Malik Iftekhar, Chairman UBG, S M Muneer Patron-in-Chief UBG, senior political leader Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, Mr. Zubair Tufail President FPCCI, Mr. Aamir Ata Bajwa Senior Vice President FPCCI, all Vice President and the core team of FPCCI congratulated the business community on the historic win and vowed to serve the business community with this new team by eliminating the core issues that are impeding growth of the economy.
UBG is confident that their new team at FPCCI headed by Mr. Ghazanfar Bilour and Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir and all new vice presidents will serve business community on priority basis.
