Karwan-e-Hayat organises a mental health awareness run

KARACHI: Karwan-e-Hayat organized a mental health awareness run on Sunday, 6th August with the theme ‘No Health Without Mental Health. ’The focus of the run was to raise awareness about mental health issues and to let people know about Karwan-e-Hayat ‘s services in the field of mental health. For the past three decades, Karwan-e-Hayat a non-profit welfare organization, has been providing treatment and rehabilitation services to poor and underprivileged mentally ill patients in Pakistan.

Its services include consultation, hospitalization, medicines and rehabilitation of the patients.  Aside from being pioneers in psychiatric care, Karwan-e-Hayat is also one of the few organizations who are Shariah compliant, ISO certified and have registration with the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) for provision of quality psychiatric services.

The event was carried out in collaboration with sports groups Born 2 Run Karachi and Speed Stars Track and Field Club.The awareness run took place at Seaview Karachi from Burger King till Village restaurant and back. The runners covered a total distance of 7 km.Fitness and Lifestyle coach Mantahaa Maqsood and actor Syed Shahroz Sabzwari were chief guests of the event and awarded trophies and medals to top 5 runners.

“It is important to highlight that there is no health without mental health.” said Dr. Omar Farooq Khan Head of Communications and Marketing, representing Karwan-e-Hayat at the mental health awareness run. He further added that only through consistent efforts focused at developing awareness, will aid people in getting the much needed help they need.
