RAS AL KHAIMAH: “Awafi Heritage Festival” which celebrates the northern emirate’s ethnic and cultural heritage kicked off this Saturday, December 15, 2018, offering visitors a truly authentic experience for all the family. The opening ceremony was attended by Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority and other VIPs who toured the cultural village and witnessed live musical performances performed by Ras Al Khaimah Police Music Band and Dibba military band.
The three-months long annual festival, which is held at Al Qawasim Corniche, will run from 15th December 2018 till 15th March 2019, welcoming guests 6 days a week, Monday till Saturday from 4PM – 10PM and Thursday and Friday from 4PM – 12 midnight.
“Awafi Heritage Festival” features a traditional market place that includes arts and crafts, cultural displays, children’s activities and live entertainment giving visitors to immerse themselves in Ras Al Khaimah’s local culture and experience it first-hand.
Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said: “I encourage both residents and tourists to visit the Awafi Heritage Festival, which is free to enter and experience Ras Al Khaimah’s rich culture and heritage through traditional entertainment shows, Emirati food, musical performances, competitions and traditional arts and crafts. It is a great opportunity for families and friends to explore the Emirate’s defining characteristics and explore further what it has to offer.”
