Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil inaugurates Malaysia International Branding Showcase 2018 at PWTC

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil, Senior Director at Bilateral Economic and Trade Relations Division, Ministry of International and Industry, Malaysia thanked the organizers of the event Messer’s ES International Event Management Sdn Bhd and PROMAS for inviting Ministry of International and Industry for delivering the opening remarks and officiate the Malaysia’s 15th Malaysia International Branding Showcase (IBS 2018) which in conjunction with Fujian and Zhejiang Export Fair at Kuala Lumpur. He congratulated Messer’s ES International Event Management Sdn Bhd and PROMAS for successfully organizing this exhibition. Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil also warmly welcomed exhibitors from around the world especially from China which has the largest contingent of more than 330 exhibitors and he also warmly welcomed exhibitors form South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Indonesia and India.

On Malaysia’s trade performance, Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil said; “Government of Malaysia has always gives importance to ensure that Malaysian brands achieve well domestically and globally. Aim is to see Malaysian brands rise globally. It can gauged from the fact that during first 10 months of 2018 total trade expanded by 6.5% as compared to same period during 2017. Exports soared by 7.5%, while imports grew by 5.4%. During this period China has consistently been Malaysia’s largest trading partner since 2009. During 2017 trading between China and Malaysia increased by 20.6%. Japan was Malaysia’s 4th largest trading partner, Taiwan being Malaysia’s 6th largest trading partner and South Korea being Malaysia’s 8 largest trading partner”.

On Malaysia’s efforts in promoting trade and investment, he said; “Malaysia’s economy is a trade-dependent and it is in Malaysia’s interest to keep our markets open for trade and at the same time also to explore markets overseas. Malaysia recognizes the importance of international trade relations to any nation’s growth and development. We feel that participation in trade fairs in an effective way for companies to market their products and I am hopeful that International Branding Showcase (IBS 2018) will serve as an important platform for its participants”.

The 15th MALAYSIA International Branding Showcase (IBS 2018) is proudly presented by ES International Event Management Sdn Bhd and supported by its friendship association consisting of Business Chambers of Commerce, PERDASAMA, DPUKM and other organisations which accounts for about 50,000 members in Malaysia. IBS 2018, is endorsed by Malaysia External Trade Development (MATRADE) since its inception for 14 years ago. IBS 2018, an annual international exhibition is scheduled to be held from 13-16 December 2018 at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In 2017, the exhibition covers an area of 6,012 m² with about 450 standard booths, 362 entrepreneurs from 8 countries from China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea and ASEAN members. IBS 2017 successfully attracted 9,534 professional buyers and visitors from 20 countries including Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. In 2018, we are expecting about 480 booths with 400 entrepreneurs from China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea and other countries to join IBS 2018. BIZ TODAY REPORT
