Dubai Startup Hub workshop series highlights trends and technologies reshaping business

DUBAI: Dubai Startup Hub, an initiative of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, recently organised a series of 10 workshops in Dubai that offered entrepreneurs valuable insights on new and innovative technologies, as well as practical support and advice for growing their businesses.

The workshops, held at 1776 Dubai at Emirates Towers, attracted the participation of more than 650 entrepreneurs, industry experts, and business leaders.

Participating in the series, Chris Thomas, CEO and Co-founder of crowd funding platform Eureecashared his insights on alternative financing options for entrepreneurs, and Rami Sarieddine, Senior ISV Technical Evangelist at ‎Microsoft, spoke about how artificial intelligence is being used to drive business growth. Talal Bayaa, CEO and co-founder of Bayzat, discussed the role of financial technology in developing and improving various businesses.

Other workshops covered the role of social media in boosting e-commerce growth, as well as key areas of challenge for new entrepreneurs such as budget planning, project management and marketing. Joining the sessions were Sirish Kumar, CEO and Co- Founder of Telr.com, Ayman Itani, Foudner of Think Media Labs, Mahmood Hussain, Lawyer and International Arbitrator at Mahmood Hussain Advocates and Legal Consultancy, and Ambareen Musa, Founder and CEO of Souqalmal.com.

Samer Chidiac, Author and International Expert on Strategic Innovation & Digital Transformation, highlighted strategies and tips that entrepreneurs can use to identify and apply innovative ideas within their businesses, while Jonathan Labin, Facebook Managing Director MENA & Pakistan,spoke about how new technologies are changing the way we live and work, and shared his thoughts on the key trends that will likely emerge over the next decade.

Essa Al Zaabi, Senior Vice President, Institutional Support, Dubai Chamber, explained that Dubai Startup Hub aims to provide entrepreneurs in Dubai with useful knowledge, tools, practical advice and support they need to develop and grow their businesses.

Al Zaabi noted that the workshop series attracted strong interest and participation, leading Dubai Startup Hub to plan and organise more workshops to be held in early 2018.

Established by Dubai Chamber in 2016, Dubai Startup Hub is the first initiative of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region. The initiative aims to provide clarity and guidance for entrepreneurs throughout their journey, while it also leverages public-private sector partnerships to promote innovation and develop Dubai’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Dubai Startup Hub complements Dubai Chamber’s strategy to support entrepreneurs and fostera culture of innovation within the emirate’s business community. The Chamber also supports entrepreneurs through its Tejar Dubai programme, which aims to nurture young Emirati entrepreneurs by helping them take their first steps into the business world. News Desk
